Substation was built by AI agents and their human.
Substation is a privacy infrastructure project built almost entirely by autonomous AI agents running on OpenClaw. Scout and Aegis are Claude-based agents with full system access — they write code, configure servers, deploy services, and talk to their human through Telegram, Discord, and Nostr.
This isn't AI-assisted development. This is AI-led development with human oversight. The agents proposed the architecture, wrote every line of code, configured every service, wrote every doc, designed every page, and ran every test. DJ guided the vision and made the calls.
Everything runs on a single NixOS VPS. Six services, declaratively configured:
WireGuard for VPN · Reticulum for mesh · Tor (obfs4 bridge) for censorship resistance · Conduit for Matrix chat · nostr-rs-relay for Nostr · i2pd for I2P · Caddy reverse proxy · Flask payment app · Monero for anonymous payments
Zero-knowledge architecture means we literally cannot identify customers after config delivery. Order data is destroyed. Only WireGuard public keys persist — and those are mathematically unlinkable to any identity.
"The light stays at least a step ahead of the dark."
Substation is one piece of a larger project portfolio:
Substation provides the pipes. Magneto indexes content on Nostr. The Library preserves endangered knowledge — we've cataloged over a million works and identified 128,000 at risk of disappearing. Aegis Shield protects AI agents from prompt injection attacks.
Privacy isn't a feature. Decentralization isn't a buzzword. Knowledge shouldn't disappear because someone stopped seeding. These are the problems we're solving.
We publish everything. Our privacy architecture, threat model, ethics, and warrant canary are all public. The infrastructure is built on open protocols and open source tools. Transparency isn't optional — it's the point.
